2008 IBEW

Jammin' Salmon Cook Off

One of South-central residents’ favorite summer activities is fishing. And boy do Alaskan’s know how to cook salmon.

Now’s your chance to see how your favorite dish rates with the neighbors.  The 3rd Annual IBEW Jammin’ Salmon Cook Off will be held Sunday, July 13 at 1 pm in downtown Eagle River.

It’s time to see who can reel in the prize for the best salmon recipes in Alaska. Think you have what it takes? Whether it is smoked, brined, marinated, salted or herbed, the proof is in the taste.

There are FIVE categories:

smoked salmon

appetizers

soups and chowders

burgers

main dishes

All of the dishes, with the exception of the smoked salmon, are encouraged to be prepared on site. It will be a great opportunity to learn some of the secrets to making some of Alaska’s favorite seafood dishes.  The newest category is the “salmon burger”.  What a way to thrill the grill!

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three items in each category; with a $200 grand prize for the “Best Salmon Dish of 2008”.

The contest will be judged by an esteemed panel of judges, to include some of the area’s top chefs, along with a few surprises!

Cost to enter is $10 per category.  For more information or for an entry form, call 694-4702 or visit www.bearpawfestival.org  and click on the entry form links.
